Located on the shores of Grand Lake,
the largest natural lake in Colorado and nearly surrounded by
Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake has been a tourist
destination for over one hundred years. The town has kept its
small town and rustic feeling, still maintaining their wooden
sidewalks and old-time store fronts.
Grand Lake is the "Official
Snowmobile capital of Colorado" according to Snow West
magazine, with more than 300 miles of groomed and ungroomed
trails. It's also one of the few places where you can snowmobile
right into town.
Area Attractions include Rocky
Mountain National Park, Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, Arapaho
National Recreation Area, Arapaho National Forest, Shadow Mountain
Lake and Lake Granby.
The lake is popular with boaters,
water-skiers and anglers. It even has a marina and yacht club.
Each summer, the town hosts the Grand Lake Regatta and Lipton Cup
Races. Other recreation activities include fishing, camping,
hiking, golf, and of course skiing and snowmobiling.
