Located in the town of Sutter Creek, in the heart of the
Mother Lode, The Grey Gables Inn brings a touch of the English
countryside to California's Gold Country. The Bed and
Breakfast is truly a union of old and new, possessing much of
the original building dating from the late 1800's as well as
combining an old-fashioned style and charm with modern comfort
and convenience.
Eight guestrooms are available at The Grey Gables, each with
a pampering fireplace accented with rich wood trim and marble
tile. Furnishings and details give you a feeling that you have
stepped into an English country manor. A spacious armoire is
found in every room in which to hang your clothes, and
foldables can find a home in the dresser. A queen- or
king-size bed offers a peaceful night's sleep. The warm wood
grain of fine antique furnishings is accented with colorful
wall coverings in pink and green florals, creating a cozy and
inviting feel. Each accommodation has a tiled private
bathroom, all with showers and many with a traditional
clawfoot tub, in keeping with the style of an English manor.
Served on fine English bone china, breakfast is a delight
for the senses, as the aroma of fresh coffee, fruits, and
juices precede and accompany each morning's tasty culinary
creation. If you prefer, breakfast can be served in the
privacy of your room. In true English tradition, tea with
cakes and scones is served every afternoon, followed by wine
and hors d'oeuvres in the evening. Enjoy the company of fellow
guests before you have a night on the town or retire to the
parlor or your room with a good book.
Grey Gables is, in the truest sense of the word, a getaway.
Whether you're looking for a romantic weekend for two or a
quiet place to be by yourself, you'll find the English charm
of the Grey Gables will fit your mood to a "tea."
