It's the people, it's the wine,
it's the setting. This beautiful, picturesque 17 mile long
valley is situated in the southeast corner of Sonoma County.
Cradled between two mountain ranges; the Mayacamas to the east
and Sonoma Mountain to the west, it is only 45 minutes north
of San Francisco. Warm days and cool nights are perfect for
growing award winning, world famous wines and setting the
stage for the perfect vacation destination. The towns of
Sonoma, Glen Ellen, and Kenwood are located in this popular
getaway region.
This friendly valley is home to
some of the oldest wineries in California where tastings and
tours are available every day and where the person behind the
tasting counter may be the winemaker.
The beauty of Sonoma Valley has
inspired many artists and writers. Jack London who wrote "Valley
of the Moon", spent his final year on his 800 acre "Beauty
Ranch" near the quaint town of Glen Ellen just north of
Sonoma. It is now a state historic park.
The shaded town square of Sonoma
was established in 1823 and is the largest of it's kind in
California. The square is surrounded by preserved, historic
buildings, and landmarks, including former Mexican army
barracks, 19th century hotels and the mission San Francisco de
Solano as well as many boutiques, shops, and restaurants. This
is the perfect place to picnic, stroll, read or just relax in
the park like setting.
Best of all, the richness and
the charm of the Sonoma Valley are authentic products of a
special and rare life-style that Sonomans are proud to share
with you.
