Black Bear Inn Bed and Breakfast and Cabins
is nestled on a wooded acre at the base of Heavenly Ski Resort
in South Lake Tahoe where you can enjoy luxury accommodations
in a rustic, mountain setting. The Inn has a main lodge, three
private cabins and a gazebo with an outdoor hot tub on
beautifully landscaped pine-shaded grounds.
The magnificent lobby or Great Room
has a 34-foot-high cathedral ceiling, which is supported by
massive cut logs and is graced by an equally stunning river
rock fireplace that rises from floor to ceiling. Giant picture
windows, chandeliers, a grand piano, and rustic Western
collectibles from the hosts' native state of Texas make this
room the focal point of the lodge.
The innkeepers serve a sumptuous full
gourmet breakfast in the morning and wine and appetizers in
the afternoon in the Great Room.
The Lake Tahoe area offers numerous
activities year round. Golf, tennis, horseback riding, fishing
and boat cruises on the lake is a great way to spend a summer
day. Visit the nearby historic towns of Truckee, Virginia City
and Placerville, or tour the Apple Hill wineries. Wintertime
is when Tahoe shows off its nineteen ski resorts, including
Heavenly Valley, Squaw Valley and Kirkwood. Tahoe winters are
famous for huge dumps of light powder and beautiful blue
skies.
Owners Jerry Birdwell and Kevin Chandler
want nothing further for their guests than to feel more
comfortable at the Black Bear Inn than they do in their own
homes. Come experience the pristine beauty of the Sierra
Nevada at Lake Tahoe's premiere bed and breakfast. |
The main lodge has five generous bed and
breakfast guest rooms, each with a private bath and gas
fireplace. The Seneca and the Washoe rooms,
with pine furniture, a handmade mesquite headboard and two
club chairs, are located on the main floor. Up the beautiful
pine stairway are three rooms: Sequoia, the largest,
with a sitting area, wet bar, vaulted ceiling and a view of
the cabins and trees, Fallen Leaf, with a private
garden-view sitting balcony, and the Frontier, the
most rustic room because it has one wall made from the rough
gray boards of an old sharecropper's cabin.
Three private cabins of varying sizes and a
hot tub gazebo sit on the back grounds beneath the pine trees.
The Bonanza Trail is a duplex containing two separate
rooms, the Stagecoach and Black Bart. Snowshoe
Thompson and Sutter cabins offer spacious
accommodations each with more than 900 sq. ft., separate
bedrooms, kitchenette and exceptional views. |
