The Victorian Inn is a stunning bed and breakfast hotel located between the Pacific coast and giant redwoods of Northern California in the Victorian village of Ferndale.

The building dates back to 1890. Banker Ira C. Russ used locally harvested redwood to exquisitely craft one of the region's most notable 19th-century architectural beauties.

Even today, a meticulously preserved facade makes the inn one of Northern California's most photographed buildings as well as a backdrop for major movies. Historic surroundings complement its nostalgic, postcard-like appeal, and Curley's, its on-site restaurant and tavern, makes the inn a hub of activity.

Victorian Inn's three romantic suites and nine guestrooms are beautifully appointed with 14- and 16-foot ceilings, luxuriant private baths, and vintage fixtures and furnishings. Each accommodation has a telephone and television available, and beyond that, each is uniquely different, projecting a self-contained chapter in this inn's storied history.

In the morning, you'll enjoy a full breakfast. When the sun sets, you'll need only head downstairs to Curley's Restaurant for fine dining and cocktails.

If you plan to visit with a group, special catering can be arranged. The inn also accommodates corporate retreats, and meeting rooms and banquet facilities are available for reservation year-round.

Ferndale's main local attractions include the Ferndale Museum and the Ferndale Repertory Theatre, the oldest and largest performing arts organization in Humboldt County. This Victorian village also boasts some rather suspenseful Murder Mystery Weekends where participants comb through Ferndale's historic Main Street District in search of clues. And don't forget to visit Centerville Beach or go hiking in Russ Park or along the coast.

Given the region's temperate clime, the nearby Pacific coast beaches also extend a year-round invitation, as do several area golf courses and the towering redwoods. In fact, the world-famous Headwaters Forest, a grove of recently saved old-growth trees, is just a short drive from Ferndale.
