The Captain's Inn is a historic bed and
breakfast that was originally built to be the Pacific Coast
Steamship Company in 1906 following the San Francisco
earthquake. Located in a quaint, historic fishing village in
Central Monterey Bay and half way between Santa Cruz and
Carmel, the inn offers a marvelous opportunity to see a
multitude of wildlife. You may watch a harbor seal swim by, an
egret looking for fish or a hawk soaring overhead. Wonderful
waterfront views from the inn relax the pace with a sea air
freshness.
Accommodations include six guest rooms
located right on the river in the Boathouse and four fully
renovated guestrooms located within the historic main
building.
Each guest bed in the boathouse is uniquely
made from a boat, beautifully adapted for a perfect night's
sleep. All rooms have a private bath, gas fireplace, antiques
and outstanding views of the marsh, river, and sand dunes. In
the main inn, each room is decorated in antiques with a
nautical touch. Two accommodation offer a fireplace and two
have claw-foot bathtubs. High Speed Internet throughout - wifi
in dining room and parlor and hardwire access in guest rooms..
A full, hot, home-cooked breakfast is
served daily. You may request an Early Bird Brown Bag
Breakfast to take with you on your adventures.
Your hosts are both wildlife enthusiasts
and love to share their knowledge of the surrounding area and
first-hand experiences with you. Captain Yohn owns and
operates Elkhorn Slough Safari Nature Boat Tours for great
sightings of playful sea otters, seals and many birds in the
slough waterways, all just a few blocks from the inn.
Sanctuary Cruises can take you onto the Pacific Ocean for
year-round whale watching and special charters on conservation
based, non-smoking vessels. Take a refreshing horseback ride
on the beach with Monterey Bay Equestrian Center or if you're
a racing fan, you will be only fifteen miles from the back
gates of the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway. If you happen to stay
at Captain's Inn at the end of July, the Moss Landing Antique
Street Fair is one of the eagerly anticipated outdoor antiques
markets in California where you can browse thousands of
antiques and collectibles for sale in hundreds of booths.
As you can surely tell by now, a stay at
the Captain's Inn in Moss Landing is far from the ordinary
vacation. Plan your family getaway, small wedding or group
reunion amid an abundance of treasured wildlife, spectacular
scenery and fascinating history with your hosts, Captain Yohn
and Melanie Gideon. |
