Just minutes away from Hollywood and Sunset
Boulevard sits an enchanting Los Angeles bed and breakfast
appropriately named The Secret Garden. Nestled amid lush
gardens, this hidden paradise is lovingly hosted by Raymond
Bilbool, who was featured in the film "Off The Menu:
The Closing of Chasen's". Raymond was a captain in
the famous old Chasen's Restaurant until it closed in 1995.
Originally from Rangoon, Burma, Raymond was also co-owner and
cook at his own Greek restaurant for eight years.
Today Raymond uses his considerable talents
to operate what he calls an oasis from the hustle and bustle
of LA's Hollywood. You will agree when you enter the lush
gardens with walking paths, secluded seating areas, fountains
and exotic sculptures that you have found a private oasis.
Colorful
is an understatement when describing the interiors of Secret
Garden. Every room is a feast for the eyes where artistic
morsels strike flavors of ageless design and architecture.
The foyer is decorated with Early
California Murals with stained glass windows. The living room
features a Chinese Spinach Jade Screen, an original Tiffany
Daffodil Lamp and a fireplace by Bachelder. The dining room
boasts a table and chairs of Rosewood and Mother of Pearl
Inlays, a hand-carved dragon gong, and a Lalique Chandelier.
The Media Room, where guests are encouraged to enjoy
themselves, features a Steinway Baby Grand piano, a pink
damask sofa and club chair and an 18th Century French
chandelier.
The Secret Garden has one guest cottage
with private bath, four guest rooms with private bath and one
guest room with a shared bath. Decorated in rich tones each
room is unique and very welcoming. Queen beds are just that.
King beds are two twin beds in case you would like to separate
them.
Your full, gourmet breakfast is prepared on
a pre 1920's Magic Chef Stove with eight burners, three ovens,
and two broilers. Raymond's own recipes which include Secret
Garden Stuffed French Toast and Baked Oatmeal will thrill your
tastebuds and can only be found at the Secret Garden.
Both the formal dining room and the newer
breakfast room have large windows for a panoramic view of the
gardens. If needed, your breakfast can be served in your room.
Lunch or dinner can be catered for six to ten guests with
prior notice. |
After being pampered by Raymond, set out
for all the legendary attractions of Hollywood and the Los
Angeles area. Visit Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, Sunset
Strip and Grauman's Chinese Theater. Hear live entertainment
at The Grove or catch some stand-up comedy at the Comedy Store
and Laugh Factory. Find the latest music at the Virgin
Megastore
Although guest comments all include the
beautiful setting and privacy of The Secret Garden, their main
emphasis is on the warmth, hospitality and genuine
friendliness of it's host Raymond Bilbool. He takes a personal
interest in creating a wonderful experience for each guest. |
