Point Arena on the coast
of California in Mendocino County boasts shops, galleries, several
fine restaurants, a library, the Point Arena Cinema, campgrounds,
and Pacific coast beauty.
The Point Arena Municipal
Pier is a working harbor where commercial fishing and
urchin-harvesting boats may be seen unloading. The pier also
offers deep-sea fishing, boating access, shops and restaurants.
The cove area to the south of the pier is a notable surfing
location. Originally built in 1870, the Point Arena Lighthouse is
now a non-profit historic preservation project, featuring tours of
the tower and grounds. It has proven to be an excellent site for
whale watching, weddings and special events. |
