Located just south of San
Simeon State Park and The Hearst Castle, Cambria resides on one of
the most dramatic portion of the central coast. With unspoiled
beaches and dramatic nature trails, this uniquely beautiful area
offers pristine coastlines and dazzling vistas. Cambria is
comprised of beautiful old Victorians houses dating back to the
1800s. Many of these are now home to art galleries, boutiques,
shop, fine restaurants and inns. |
Hearst Castle is a
magnificent estate, high on the hill overlooking the expanse of
the coastline. People travel from all over the world to tour
Hearst Castle State Historic Landmark, once the vacation home of
publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst. It is open for tours
daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.
Aside the the major
attraction in the area being the Hearst Castle, this area of the
coast has much more to offer for those that love nature and the
coast. Walking the boardwalk, which runs along the beach, one can
view an abundance of wildflowers, sea birds and an occasional
spouting whale. Monterey Cypress line parts of the walk with
unusual formations and twisting limbs. Explore tidepools walk
beaches, take a picnic. Biking and horseback riding is also a
popular activity.
Inland from the shore you
will find the great Central Coast wine country with over 100
vineyards growing premium wines. Many are open for tours and
tastings. |
