Big Bear is nestled in the
San Bernardino Mountains and is defined by its rustic traditions,
rich history, and pristine views. Host to two of Southern
California's largest ski resorts, Big Bear provides four seasons
of abundant recreational opportunities. The lake provides
exceptional fishing, sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding,
parasailing, canoeing and kayaking. There are lovely lakeside
wooded parks, numerous private boat rental marinas and two public
boat-launch ramps.
When it comes to
recreation, Big Bear Lake is literally mountains of fun. With
great activities ranging from world-class skiing and snowboarding,
power boating and jet-skiing, to trout fishing and golfing. And
visitors are surprised at the great shopping and dining around.

During the summer months,
Snow Summit transforms one of its two high-speed quads, the East
Mountain Express, into the Scenic Sky Chair. The chair lift speed
is significantly reduced to allow guests of all ages to enjoy the
natural beauty of Big Bear Lake and the surrounding area. If
you're feeling adventurous, turn your sightseeing trip into a
short hike and take one of the many trails down the mountain, or
just hop back on the Sky Chair for the ride down. Either way, you
will enjoy spectacular views of Big Bear Lake and the entire
valley.
The Bear Mountain Golf
Course and driving range are open daily into early November. The
Club House Grill located in the golf course clubhouse is serving
up excellent lunch daily. Big Bear Valley offers a vast collection
of mountain biking trails and is known as one of the hot beds of
the sport. Cross-country mountain bikers of all ages and skill
levels will find the ideal two-wheel adventure in Big Bear.
The Big Bear Solar
Observatory (BBSO) located in Big Bear Lake, is operated by the
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Our main interest is
the physics of the Sun and they observe solar phenomena every day
with dedicated telescopes and instruments. |
