| Central
California is a long stretch from Half Moon Bay just south
of San Francisco to Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay, Carmel,
Big Sur, San Simeon, and Santa Barbara. Inland communities
of Paso Robles, Santa Ynez Valley offer up coastal wineries
that are emerging as another award winning producer of wine.
Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay is a playground for all
kinds of sun worshipers who love golf at its finest,
surfing, sun bathing, and beach combing. In fact there is a
secret beach near Monterey that has shells and rock in
miniature. Hundreds of small shells wash up on the beach
every year here - plucked out of the sea before they could
grow big. Wildlife is not only revered on the coast here,
but celebrated with one of the best Aquariums on the coast
at Monterey.
Bed
and Breakfasts and boutique hotels dot the Carmel
coast along with village restaurants and upscale shops.
Travel south through Big Sur and you will come to San Simeon
home of the highly toured Hearst Castle, once the vacation
home of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst. Further
south will take you to the Swiss village of Solvang, heart
of the southern wine country of California. And further
south takes you to the lovely city of Santa Barbara with
ocean views, golf courses, and yachting marinas. |
