Arroyo Grande Bed and
Breakfast on the California Coast
Located on approximately one-fourth acre of
hillside with gardens modified to allow sunlight in and create
a tranquil area containing natural rock walls plus exotic
finches and canaries, the House of Another Tyme reflects its
name. Built circa 1916 by Mr. Dieffenbacher for the Ervin
family, the bed and breakfast is a single wall construction
home of Victorian style. It was renovated by the Poole family
in more modern times -- bathrooms and the kitchen were
upgraded, while incorporating a contemporary design with
skylights and whitewashed ceiling.
The House offers a choice of three unique
guest rooms. All rooms have private baths and queen-sized
beds. Furnished with antiques, special touches such as rich
walnut and cherry period pieces, a private deck with a
fantastic view, "sitz" tub, and French provincial
accents can be found throughout various rooms. Enjoy a cup of
tea in the sun room overlooking the village and green hills
beyond. Browse the many books and relax by the huge stone
fireplace in the living room. Wireless Internet access is
avaialable too.
A full country breakfast is served between
seven-thirty and nine each morning that includes fruit, juice,
muffins or breads, a delicious main dish, and coffee, tea, or
milk. Afternoon refreshments are provided.
Ocean and lake boating, fishing, hiking,
camping, windsurfing, sailing, swimming, golf, and
water-skiing offer a wide variety of activities and
recreation. Many festivals are held throughout the year. Go
explore the Village, its only one block away. Visit the
antique shops and boutiques about town. Feast in one of the
fine restaurants nearby. |
House of Another Tyme is situated in the
village of Arroyo Grande, which was incorporated July 10,
1911. The earliest inhabitants of the Arroyo Grande Valley
were the Obispeno Chumash Indians. The Valley was still
occupied by the Chumash Indians at the time of contact with
the first Spanish explorer, Juan Cabrillo. During the Colonial
settlement of California, the Arroyo Grande Valley became
separated into two major ranches which were granted by the
Mexican Government. In 1862, the San Luis Obispo Board of
Supervisors established the township of Arroyo Grande.
The Village of Arroyo Grande still retains
the olden feel and look of an era passed. Treat yourself to a
special respite at the House of Another Tyme Bed and
Breakfast. Your hosts, Jack and Judy, wish to make your stay a
treasured memory. |
