Annie's Cottage, built in 1907, offers guests a quaint one-room, lower-level accommodation in San Francisco's Russian Hill district, the center of activities in this beautiful city by the bay.

To get to the cottage, hidden from the street by another building, you'll walk through a beautiful garden. Your room, completely renovated in 1997, sits in back of the garden and down a few steps. The sun-lit room is furnished with American country antiques and has a private bath, sitting area, queen-sized bed, television, phone, private deck, and kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave.

One couple from Nashville, Tennessee describes the guest room as "an oasis in an already beautiful city," and another couple from Toronto reflects as follows: "We've just spent six glorious days in your town and no small part of our pleasure was due to staying at 1255 Vallejo. We loved everything about it. The look, the location, the liveliness, and every morning a delicious surprise at our door."

You'll have little need for a car, however. The cottage is within walking distance of San Francisco's renowned Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, China Town, and North Beach. You'll be just a short cable hop from The Embarcadero and Market Street and stroll away from all sorts of interesting shops.

The neighborhood is filled with fine restaurants to enjoy for lunch and dinner, and you'll be just a half-block away from San Francisco's famed cable car if you want to try an eatery across town.

If you come by car, you'll probably want to park your car in one of the neighborhood garages, located three to ten blocks away. Otherwise, you'll have to park on the street, and finding a spot can be a little tricky in the busy streets of the Russian Hill District.
