bath, and 2 queen rooms (1 has single daybed) with mini
refrigerators and access to two hall baths. Guests may use kitchen,
laundry room, and guest refrigerator. Wireless Internet access
throughout.
- Open: September through June. Summer
dates possible by special arrangement.
- Rates: Rates shown are per room, per
night single and double occupancy. Rates for children are per room,
per night for each child. Add $10.00 to rates for first 2 weeks in
February (Gem Show). There is a surcharge of $10.00 for a 1-night
stay. Weekly and monthly discounted rates available. $20.00
surcharge per night, per room for last week in January and first 2
weeks in February (Gem Show). Rates subject to change without
notice.

- Payment: Deposit is half of stay.
Checks, money orders, and PayPal accepted; sorry, no credit cards.
- Cancellation Policy: Cancellation
notice must be received at least 48 hours prior to scheduled arrival
date for refund of deposit, less 1 night's fee for bookings of 7
days or less (2 nights' stay retained for longer bookings).
Forfeited deposits may be applied to a future stay and will be
refunded, less $50.00, if cancelled room is rebooked.
- Restrictions: No smoking. Children
welcome. Pet Freindly - Pets ($10.00 per night) also welcome (owner
has 2 dogs and 1 cat). Dietary restrictions accommodated
(vegetarians welcome).
- Breakfast: Full breakfast. Breakfasts "to
go" for early morning hikers, bikers, and birdwatchers.
- Lunch/Dinner: Lunches to go by request.
Hearty soups or pasta dish usually available for hungry
late-arriving guests or weary sightseers ($15.00, including veggies,
hot fudge sundae with homemade sauce, and beverage). Guests free to
use full kitchen to prepare meals.
- Special Events at Inn: Small family
reunions (can accommodate up to 12, using all sleep sofas and cots,
depending on how many couples sharing beds). Have hosted bicycle
racers in training, homeschooling family, businessmen on assignment,
visiting professors, househunting couples, and conferences.
- Recreation & Activities: On-site
outdoor pool (surcharge to heat in winter) and hot tub, games,
toddler toys, bicycles (2 adult bikes and 2 children's bikes), and
mini-tramp. Extensive library of fiction and non-fiction plus nature
field guides, binoculars, and Sierra Club and Audubon hike
schedules. Six birdfeeders (hummingbird and seed feeders) in front
of inn. Tennis and golf are a 5-minute drive. Horseback riding is a
10-minute drive. Hiking trails at the end of the street. Fenced
public dog park for unleashed dogs is a 5-minute drive.
- Attractions & Special Events: Near
Saguaro East National Park, Mount Lemmon, Sabino Canyon, and Tanque
Verde Falls. View of Catalina and Rincon Mountains from the inn.

DeGrazia Foundation Gallery in the Sun, Kartchner Caverns, Nogales

- Recommended Local Best Kept Secrets:
Unique-to-Tucson specialty shops, birdwatching, hiking, inner
tubing, archaeological dig, children's museum, Patagonia Lake,
Tanque Verde Falls, and dog parks. It's worth the 3-1/2-hour drive
and overnight stay to visit the historical X Diamond Ranch, a
hands-on archeological learning experience outside Tucson.
- Directions: From airport: Take
exit road (Tucson Boulevard) to 1st light (Valencia). Turn right.
Travel about 15-20 minutes until Houghton Road. Tun left on
Houghton. Go about 15 minutes until Tanque Verde light. Stay on
Houghton and turn right onto Glenn (4th street after Tanque Verde
light). House is the 4th on the right: 10402. It has three lighted
arched windows and a mailbox sitting on a concrete Saguaro cactus.
Directions from I-10 coming from the West: Exit
at Speedway and drive east to Houghton Road, which is 10200 East.
You can gauge your progress by watching numbers on street signs at
the east-west cross streets. Houghton is the 1st light after
Harrison. Turn left on Houghton. After next light, which is Tanque
Verde, count four streets on your right, then turn right onto Glenn.

windows and a mailbox sitting on a concrete Saguaro cactus.
From I-10 coming from the East: Take Exit 275
(Houghton Road) north -- away from the fairgrounds -- and travel
about 10 miles to light at Tanque Verde. (You'll pass Valencia, Golf
Links, Broadway, and Speedway en-route.) After Tanque Verde, turn
right at the 4th street on the right (Glenn). House is the 4th on
the right: 10402. It has three lighted arched windows and a mailbox
sitting on a concrete Saguaro cactus.
