Fabulous Fig Breakfast Brownies

A guest from Seattle shared this family recipe with us and we have been baking them ever since....

Ingredients:

6 eggs

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

2 cups finely chopped figs (or dates)

2 cups chopped walnuts

1 cup flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

4 Tablespoons melted butter

Mix together eggs and both sugars. Add figs and walnuts and fold together. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and butter. Mix well and pour into a well greased and floured 9-1/2 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Cool and cut into squares. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. These keep well in a tin for several days.
