Custard French Toast

Ingredients

1 loaf cinnamon bread (unsliced, no raisins)

1/4 cup melted butter for top of sliced bread

9 eggs

4 cups milk

1 pint whipping cream

3/4 cup sugar

1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Grease a 12 x 14-inch baking dish; cut bread into 1-inch slices and lay flat in pan. Brush tops of bread with melted butter. Mix together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, and cinnamon. Pour over bread and let sit until bread soaks up batter (approximately 10 minutes). Place dish in water bath and bake for 50 minutes covered with foil. Take foil off about 15 minutes before finished cooking.

Berry Topping: Red raspberries and blackberries with a little sugar.
