| The
Interior Region of Alaska is bounded by the Alaska Mountain
Range on the South and the Brooks Range on the North. It is
dominated by three large river valleys - the Yukon, Tanana,
and Kuskokwim. This area is characterized by wide open
spaces with no trees. Lowlands are marshy, while highlands
have moss, grass, and brush. The Interior region of Alaska
has a highly continental climate, with the warmest summers
in the state in the 80's and 90's, as well as the lowest
record winter temperatures.
Fairbanks
is its largest city. Attractions in this area include: The
Fairbanks Ice Museum - billed as 'The Coolest Show in Town,'
Georgeson Botanical Garden, University of Alaska Museum, and
the El Dorado Gold Mine where you can learn to mine for
gold. Fishing, hunting and photography opportunities are
