Heritage Recipe

Sour Cream Banana Bread

Ingredients

2 cups sugar

1 cup oil

4 eggs

2 cups (4 medium) mashed ripe bananas

1 cup dairy sour cream

2 teaspoons real vanilla

3 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

Grease and flour loaf pans or use non-stick spray. This will make 2 loaves.

In large bowl, beat the sugar and oil until smooth. Add eggs, bananas, sour cream, and vanilla; beat again until well blended. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until ingredients are moistened. Pour into prepared pans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Insert toothpick. If it comes out clean, they are done; if not, cook for another 10 minutes and try again. Cool 5 minutes before removing from pans. Cool completely. Wrap tightly and store in refrigerator. This bread makes great muffins, too, and freezes well.

This recipe has been handed down for generations. It came from my great grandmother, and has been changed through the years to this recipe. My grandmother used to make me muffins from this recipe for my "tea parties". It will always be in my family & now maybe yours. - Karrie Ringeisen
