Bed and Breakfast at Raspberry Meadows

Founded in 1988, Alaska's Anchorage Downtown Bed and Breakfast is a stately home nestled behind trees with wildflowers, raspberries, and an occasional moose ... a rare find for executive downtown living. Built in 1958, it withstood the Great Earthquake of 1964. In 1998, nationally renowned architect Roger Dalrymple added the solar addition, and Crittenden and Crombie added Grandpa's unique handicapped sunroom. Providing both bed and breakfast and vacation rental lodging accommodations, the Inn is a wonderful hotel alternative.

The two garden suites and have private entrances, kitchenettes, color television, phones, and adjacent washer/dryer facilities. The larger executive suite comfortably accommodates up to six guests and features two separate bedrooms, a full living room, and a private bath. The studio suite, easily accommodating parties of four, features a queen bed and a fold-out queen futon, fireplace, and private bath. The private room in the Bed and Breakfast is furnished with antiques, color television, and phone, an ideal quiet space for the business traveler. The suites are pet-free for allergy-prone guests, while the rooms in the main house are ruled by a shy, old matronly singing cat, "Chunkers."

The kitchenettes in the suites are fully equipped with provisions for hearty continental breakfasts. A satisfying continental breakfast is provided for Bed and Breakfast guests in the breakfast nook or picnic area.

Anchorage Downtown Bed and Breakfast is within walking distance of all downtown shops, hotels, and tourist attractions. Play tennis at Denali Park, watch the ducks at Westchester Lagoon, or take the coastal bike trail for the scenic wildflowers and Inlet sunsets. In the winter, you can ski to the coastal trail, which connects with Kincaid's Park's world-class Nordic ski trails. As a Gateway to McKinley B&B, the Inn frequently hosts adventuresome climbers and backcountry skiers, and your hosts often provide air transport and tourist tips.
