The Hayman House is located in the historic district of
Princess Anne, within easy walking distance of the Teakle
Mansion and Boxwood Gardens.
Built by lumber baron Charles H. Hayman around 1898 in the
Queen Anne Colonial style, the house displays an intriguing
mixture of architectural and design features. These include
the extraordinary balustrades on the front porch, the
colonnades' supported entry arch, and the curved first-floor
stairway with its beaded egg and dart trim.
Throughout the house, lace curtains, cozy fireplaces, and a
wicker-filled porch distinguish this treasured home listed on
the National Register of Historic Places. The richly gleaming
oak found throughout the house includes three sets of large
pocket doors and oak wainscoting in the entry foyer and
stairway. The Victorian parlor features a splendid
double-mantled fireplace with cranberry-colored tile. Relaxing
surroundings are provided in the library with its oak
bookshelves and Chinese red walls. The dining room, with its
octagonal end graced by three windows, a unique chandelier,
and double-mantled fireplace is the setting for a delicious
gourmet breakfast. The second-floor parlor also provides a
cozy area for relaxation or meeting friends.
The five guest rooms, each with a separate bath, provide
pleasant, temperature-controlled accommodations, whether a
king-, queen-, or double-size bed is selected. Rooms at the
Hayman House are named for the flowers found on the Eastern
Shore.
A full gourmet breakfast is served each morning, courtesy of
innkeeper Carol Pinkerman. The staff at the Hayman House tries
to provide unique breakfasts that you are sure to enjoy.
Afternoon refreshments are served upon arrival either on the
front porch or in the parlors.

drive to Crisfield for crab cakes, where you can also catch a
cruise to Smith or Tangier Islands, fishing communities in the
middle of the Bay where time has stood still since the first
watermen arrived centuries ago. See Ocean City and its famous
boardwalk and nightlife. Fishing trips are available from
either Ocean City on the Atlantic or Crisfield on the
Chesapeake. Go hiking, biking, bird watching, kayaking,
