A spacious one-story Queen Anne Victorian
built in the 1890s as a wedding gift by Estelle Ducourneau Plôché
for her niece, Green Gables, remained in the original family
until 1939, when it became the Sutton family home until 1992.
Green Gables has been operating as a Bed
and Breakfast since 1993, after having been restored back to
its original grandeur. Ornate fireplaces, twelve foot
ceilings, stained glass windows, a wrap-around front gallery,
original art, and 18th and 19th century antiques transport
guests to a time when life was gentle and simple. Take a break
from life in the fast lane - relax on the front gallery swing,
with a cool drink and a magazine, under the ceiling fan.
Green Gables offers three guest
accommodations. The Gallery Room has its own private
entrance from the front gallery. A fireplace, stained glass
window, daybed, and an antebellum canopied 4-poster bed from
Natchez add warmth to this spacious room along with private
bath with shower. The Wooden Shutter Room offers an
iron and brass bed and a cozy corner fireplace. A private bath
with a Jacuzzi and shower is included. If you follow the
camellia-lined driveway to the backyard of Green Gables, you
will find Camellia Cottage, a romantic retreat
complete with an inviting fireplace and kitchenette. Sherry is
set out in the guestrooms and fresh cut flowers bring touches
of cheer to unexpected corners.
Come visit Green Gables Bed and Breakfast,
not only a stop on the Natchitoches Historic District
Registry, but also a stop for the finest in accommodations and
service. |
