Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients

1 cut up chicken

water

1 teaspoon Accent seasoning salt

1-1/2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon powdered garlic

1 medium onion, chopped

2 ribs celery, chopped

1 cup sweet milk

Dough

2 cups self-rising flour

1-1/2 cups sweet milk

1 Tablespoon parsley flakes

1 or 2 drops yellow food coloring (optional)

Step 1: Put chicken in large heavy pot and cover with water. You must have plenty of stock.
Step 2: Add seasoning salt, salt, black pepper, garlic, onion, and celery to pot and boil until chicken is tender.
Step 3: Remove chicken form pot and de-bone. Then return stock to medium heat, adding 1 cup of milk.
Step 4: Making the dough: Add parsley flakes to flour; mix. Add enough milk to make a stiff dough. If you want a more yellow-colored dumpling, add one or two drops of yellow food coloring to the milk used in the dough. Make a ball using a lightly floured board. Roll dough to about 1/8 inch thickness and cut into 1-1/2 inch strips.
Step 5: As water begins to boil, drop in about half of dumplings and let cook about 10 minutes before dropping the last half. Be sure broth is boiling before you start dropping the dumplings. Add hot water if you need more broth.
Step 6: Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.
Step 7: Add de-boned chicken to dumplings before serving.
