Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce

Ingredients

1 loaf French bread (several days old), about 25 ounces

1 quart milk

2 large cans Carnation milk (1 milk can of water)

6 large eggs

2-1/2 cups sugar

1-1/4 Tablespoons nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1-1/2 Tablespoons vanilla flavoring

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 stick oleo, cut in pieces

1/2 cup raisins

Rum Sauce

1 box regular Jello vanilla pudding mix

1/2 cup milk

1/2 stick oleo

1 Tablespoon rum flavoring

Step 1: Mix together 1 quart of milk, Carnation milk, 1 can water, oleo, sugar, salt and vanilla flavor and heat until oleo is melted.
Step 2: Pull french bread apart in small pieces, sprinkle raisins over bread.
Step 3: Beat eggs, nutmeg, and cinnamon in mixer for one minute.
Step 4: Mix milk mixture with egg mixture (mix well). Pour over bread and let stand about 10 minutes.
Step 5: Pour mixture in a 9 x 13-inch greased baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or 1 hour or until knife blade comes clean.
Step 6: Rum Sauce: Follow directions on pudding mix box, adding 1/2 cup more milk.
Step 7: After cooking, add 1/2 stick oleo and 1 Tablespoon rum flavoring.
Step 8: Pour rum sauce over bread pudding and serve.
